Ronald (Ron) S. Tikofsky, Ph.D., is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology at College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and Adjunct Professor of Speech Pathology at the Teachers College. A New York native, he received his initial academic education at Brooklyn College and his Ph.D. in Speech Pathology and Psychology at the University of Utah. He held academic positions at the University of Pittsburgh, The University of Michigan, Florida International University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin before returning to New York to work at Harlem Hospital. While in Milwaukee, Dr. Tikofsky served as the President of the Milwaukee Jazz Experience and President of the Friends of WYMS, Milwaukee's Jazz radio station. He was on the Board of Directors of the Pabst Theater Jazz Concert series and has been an active member of the JFA Board since 1996. He has also received the Gold Medal of the American College of Nuclear Medicine for his work in brain imaging. Dr. Tikofsky is currently executive producer of a forthcoming jazz film, "Variations on the Theme of Freedom". He is still working on his favorite project: to get a health clinic for Jazz musicians established at Harlem Hospital.
